Two small lambs looking up at me
What are you doing?

I went on a wee exploratory bike ride today, starting out with the intention of visiting my llamas. Unfortunately they weren't in their usual place and I considered giving up - but I soldiered on! The result was not only did I find two llamas (different from my previous meetings, but llamas nevertheless) but also a barn full of lambs!

In the second part of the ride I explored some strange places buried in the forest, all completely deserted but always with the impression that someone had just been there - somewhat eerie and certainly intriguing. To make it more interesting I filmed some video too, which is also handily supported by Flickr now.

See more photos from my ride in the Exploring Around Houghall set on my Flickr account.

I've been messing with HDR imaging on some of my photos. Over the last month or so I've been taking a number of photos using "exposure bracketing" whereby the camera will alter the exposure (by changing aperture size or shutter speed) and take three images of varying light intensity. Using a program called Photomatix I then combine them and use Tone Mapping to come up with a finished image.

This image looks nothing like the original, but I like the rather surreal effect that I've created with it. Keep an eye on my HDR set for more of the same.

I chose this photo because it seemed down to earth and showed the sight well - there are some cool perspective and HDR shots too if you follow that link.

As with absolutely everything this automotive construction has a Wikipedia article which details that it is located near Alliance, Nebraska, was built by Jim Reinders and was dedicated during the summer solstice, 1987.

The actual purpose of Stonehenge is still up for debate, though it is suspected to have largely astrological significance as the sun shines through different arches at important points throughout the year. Car Henge seems to be more for tourists these days, as a visitor centre was constructed in 2006. I don't blame them, as its certainly something worth seeing and far more impressive than any old ball of twine.

Now that every photo I have is slowly making its way onto Flickr I can put a badge here that will randomly choose some photos from a tag of my choice - in this case Skydiving. So if you want to keep track of these photos then you might want to bookmark the tag, or even add me as a contact.

Kaiser Chiefs at the MEN

Back in December I saw the Kaiser Chiefs when they played at the MEN Arena, supported by the Pigeon Detectives. The show was brilliant, with both bands being good showmen as well as belting out some great indie-pop to dance about to. The Kaisers performed three new songs, which I recorded and intend to get onto the net at some point soon. Until then, enjoy some nice photos from the concert.
