TV Licence Fore More Than TV

June13
Firms that let staff watch the World Cup on broadband could be fined £1,000 if they do not hold a TV licence.

Ah the BBC, they produce some fine programs but they don't half go on about that TV licence stuff. And here we have another example of stupidity - you need one for watching videos on the internet. Now call me pedantic, but I don't regard the 'net as TV. Ok, maybe if the BBC had an area on the website that said 'watch BBC TV on the internet' then I could accept it, but it doesn't. Indeed I've just been to the website and watched a few sports broadcasts as a test - not once was I told about a TV licence being needed, yet people are being fined for this. Reading the article you will discover that the matches online are not even being shown on TV, thereby making it even stupider.

Yes, I'm aware that TV costs money and the BBC get their money from the licence, but in this day of digital television, online streaming and such their attitude needs to change. It isn't enough to say 'you must pay money for a TV' because people might not have a TV for watching BBC programs, they might not use the online services, they might not listen to the radios. A family with a wide screen is going to pay, but a student who just wants his GameCube with him at Uni shouldn't. In the end the internet should force the BBC to change or fall.

“TV Licence Fore More Than TV”

Down with the BBC. I don't think you should pay a license for TV let alone the internet. We have to watch tons of bloody adverts on most channels so go shove it up your arses. Take our internet away and you will soon find your HQ burning to the ground. Nice comment system Mike, better then mine by a long shot, like the preview system. Lots of love, NoVi

Heheh, thanks for the kudos there. The comment system still has a few things to add - you may have noticed that the website box above is redundant at the moment. Let's hope some BBC execs read this - the image of their HQ burning will be sure to put the fear into them!

Type the word that appears under the picture of a badger. Why?

Your Comment:

These days spam bots are a problem for websites. They post crap in comments and ruin things for everybody. However asking them to perform tests such as identifying badgers stops them in their tracks, despite how easy it is for you.
